Creating a custom Page Tab for Facebook Pages - Part I

Hi,
Facebook is popular among both teenagers and adults. Facebook enables a way for people to get to know each other and what's around them. This is where Facebook becomes a gold-mine for advertisers. This is one of the best places to launch your campaigns or advertisements to lure customers or fans.

Here I will guide you on "How to create a Facebook page and a Custom Welcome Tab"
Note: Some basic HTML knowledge is required.

First go to Google Sites and sign in with your Google account.

Now click on "Create" to create a new Site
This is where we will be creating the new custom tab.
Now type a name for "Name your site:" Name doesn't matter really. Only thing is it needs to be "unique". Alright, now you have the basic skeleton for your Page Tab

Now create/download an advertising image suitable to promote your site.
In my case I created an image (640x350) using Photoshop.
I also created another image (120x60) as a button to direct fans to my blog.

Now click on "More" button on the right, in the top toolbar.
Go to "Manage Site". Click on "Site Layout" in the sidebar.
Now click on "Change site layout".

In the popup window, set the values as shown in the image below. And click "Save"

Now click on "Colors and Fonts" on the sidebar
Under "Content area" click on "Content background image". Upload the image you have.
Set following values for corresponding parameters
Repeat: None Horizontal: Center Vertical: Top

Now if you preview the site, for some of you, only a part of your image will be visible. Now to get around that we do a little magic trick.
Go to the Homepage of your site. Now click on "Edit"
A Text editor appears. There click on the content area and press enter to add new lines, so that the full image is visible.
If this doesn't work for you. Click on "Edit HTML" in the tool bar of the text editor. Add few
tags where it is necessary.

Now remove the text in the Title

Now you should have something like below

On the next post we will see how to integrate this into Facebook.
